This Action concerns the improvement of port accessibility in the port of Venice-Marghera and consists of infrastructural works for the operational and remedial dredging in two stretches of the West Industrial canal and the South Industrial canal.
More precisely, the Action aims at:
- Increasing the port accessibility for cargo ships, allowing vessels of higher tonnage to access the port facilities
- Reducing the environmental pollution of the lagoon, by removing the contaminated sediments from the canals
The Action foresees the following activities:
- Preliminary works including bathymetric profile, bomb clearing, sediment characterisation, dredging plan, briccole (old wooden mooring poles) removal and sheet piling
- Removal of sediments in the West Industrial channel and South Industrial channel to reach the draught of 10.50 m according to the approved dredging plan
- Characterisation of the sediments for evaluating final disposal (Tresse Island/Molo Sali/Moranzani Plants) on the basis of contamination
