2008-IT-91400-P:

Upgrading the Montecrevola Road Tunnel on the SS n. 33 del Sempione E62 to the safety requirements for tunnels in the Trans-European Road Network

The Montecrevola Road Tunnel, as part of the European Route E62, connects Italy with the Swiss border through the Sempione route in the Alps.

This project aims at upgrading the 2,258 m long tunnel under the European Directive 2004/54/CE on minimum safety requirements for tunnels in the Trans-European Road Network. Technological safety equipment, illumination and ventilation systems will be renewed in order to reach appropriate levels of comfort and safety for road users.

The new safety fittings and communication and monitoring facilities will be linked to an existing remote control station in Turin.
