This project, part of Priority Project 17 railway axis Paris-Strasbourg-Stuttgart-Wien-Bratislava, will connect the German and French high speed rail networks.
A single track bridge crossing the Rhine river will be replaced by a double track bridge, allowing a maximum travel speed on the bridge to increase from 100 to 160 km/h.
The connecting line between Kehl and Appenweier will also be upgraded to enable speeds up to 160 km/h and a new link with the high speed line Karlsruhe-Basel will be constructed within the scope of future projects.
This project has been completed.
