High speed line Bretagne–Pays de la Loire


The high speed rail line Bretagne–Pays de la Loire is the continuation of the existing high speed line Paris-Le Mans. It now plans to be extended up to Rennes for passenger trains, thus opening up capacities for freight transport on the existing lines. The 182 km of new line will link to existing train stations and lines, such as the line to Nantes, and will be realised in the framework of a public-private partnership.

 

The new high-speed line will be equipped with ETCS level 2 and the French system TVM 300. A 25 km section in the North of Le Mans will also be equipped with ETCS 1 to allow the circulation of freight trains.

 

The project entails pre-design and design studies on the 8 junctions between the new high-speed line and the existing railway network, and technical, legal and financial support for the preparation of the public-private partnership contract for the construction phase, due to start in 2012.
