Road E18 Helsinki-Vaalimaa studies

Part of Priority Project 12 (Nordic Triangle railway/road axis) the Helsinki-Vaalimaa section of the E18 motorway faces problems related to traffic capacity and safety, transport and operational reliability.

To eliminate this bottleneck a motorway to the Russian border is under construction and is planned to be completed by 2017. For three sections of the new motorway between Helsinki and Vaalimaa certain planning phases are missing. The present Action concerns one of these three sections.

The aim of the Action is to produce a construction plan for the Hamina bypass motorway. The construction plan will pave the way for the procurement of construction works of this important section of E18.

This project has been completed.
