This project, part of the "Rail Baltica" corridor, linking Warsaw-Kaunas-Riga-Tallinn-Helsinki (Priority Project 27) focuses on the Estonian part of the section Kaunas-Riga-Tallinn.
It includes both feasibility and technical studies on using a new European gauge line in Estonia. The studies aim to facilitate the Estonian authorities with the eventual construction a new gauge, with a view to ensure interoperability with the country's EU neighbours and ultimately increase the use of rail for passengers and freight.
State of progress on 31 December 2010:
The detailed feasibility study is in progress.
