2011 RIS FAQ
Disclaimer:
This FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) list is based on the rules and conditions contained in the legal documents relating to TEN-T Calls for Proposals. It is intended to ensure that the same guidance is provided to all potential applicants, and does not in itself have legal value.
This page will no longer be updated and is here for reference only.
1. Under the RIS call, is the tracking and tracing of hazardous material covered?
Yes, section 3.2.2 of the work programme includes under technical issues the "installation of the required onboard equipment and shore-based infrastructure". This could potentially include tracking and tracing systems for hazardous material.
2. Is there a definition of 'physical interventions' for proposals entailing studies in the context of compliance with EU policy and law (Application Form Part B.1)? Would the installations of servers (for hosting IT services in the context of RIS), onboard equipment and software on vessels, antennas (on existing antenna masts) be seen as physical interventions?
There is no definition of 'physical interventions'. However, some examples are provided in the Guide for Applicant's Annex I (testing, destructive tests, excavations, any activity related to a Natura 2000 site, installation of antennas). Essentially, physical interventions relate to any activity which could potentially have an impact on the environment.
Installations of servers (for hosting IT services in the context of RIS), onboard equipment and software on vessels may not be considered as physical interventions which may have an impact on the environment. However, the installation of antennas is explicitly mentioned in Annex I and this does not distinguish whether it relates to renovations or not. Therefore please specify clearly the technical characteristics of the changes and, in particular, if the antennas are in a Natura 2000 site.
